Parliamentary Work

As Chair of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, John leads parliamentary scrutiny of Ireland’s foreign policy and international engagement. Through the committee’s work, he helps examine key global issues, strengthen international relationships, and ensure Ireland’s interests are represented on the world stage.

John serves on the Committee on European Union Affairs, scrutinising EU legislation and policy while ensuring Ireland’s voice is reflected in decisions that affect citizens at home and across Europe.

John Lahart TD regularly participates in discussions with academics, industry leaders, diplomats and public representatives on issues affecting Ireland and the European Union.
