New Laws Will Finally Outlaw Scramblers

The recent news of a young child being knocked over by a Scrambler Bike in Seán Walsh Park was shocking, but not new. Scramblers have been creating a nuisance for years. Their bikes and their riders destroy pitches and open spaces and terrorise park users. It has to stop.

While others have complained, I introduced a Bill in the last Dáil to give the Garda the powers they say they needed – the powers to confiscate and destroy Scramblers used in an anti-social manner to terrorise ordinary people. The powers outlined in my Bill are now part of new laws that will be passed by the Dáil by the summer.
