Did you know the government wants to increase the number of councillors in South Dublin County to 40 from the present 26? The only obvious additional source of income available to the Council is from your Property Tax – so some of your Property Tax may be going to pay for fourteen additional councillors that no one asked for and that are neither justified or needed.
This is set out in the terms of reference of the Boundary Commission established by the government. I have raised this issue through a number of motions at County Council meetings and I have also voiced my objections to the increase in Councillors for South Dublin in my submission to the Local Authority Commission.
