Gaelcoláiste an Phiarsaigh - Post-Primary Gael Scoil
You may have read that Loreto Abbey has been sold recently. According to a report in the Irish Independent of early March "A total of €12m is to be invested by the Department of Education to transform the 250-year-old complex into a gaelscoil for the south Dublin area. Loreto Abbey is to be preserved as an educational facility. Gaelcholáiste an Phiarsaigh has a permanent home.

The Department of Education has just purchased the long-empty school on 4.5 acres for about €2.3m and experts say they will need to invest at least another €10m transforming the crumbling 93,000-sq-ft complex into a modern educational facility.”
I sincerely welcome this development – preserving as it does the integrity of this amazing building which is such a part of Rathfarnham’s History. It is particularly fitting that the Department of Education plans a school to be located there, thereby continuing the strong tradition of education at this location.
