Strategic Investment Fund Should be Used to Address Housing Crisis
DSW BYE Election candidate Cllr John Lahart has highlighted the waiting times of older people on South Dublin County Council’s Housing Lists.
Lahart received answers to two questions he raised at this month’s Council meeting concerning how many older people (over 65 years) were actually on the Council’s list and on average how long did they have to wait for accommodation.

The Council and ESB
A ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ was recently agreed between South Dublin County Council and the ESB in respect of the removal of graffiti on ESB utility boxes and substations within this Council's administrative area.  The MoU involves complaints in relation to graffiti being centrally received by SDCC Environmental Services Department and then referred to the ESB as appropriate. The ESB will then ensure that the graffiti is removed within a specific time period as set down in the MoU.  It is hoped that similar agreements can be reached with other utility companies in the near future.

The Issues in Dublin South West
I briefed the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party today on progress in the Dublin South West by-election. I was happy to tell them that momentum is building in the campaign, that we have growing numbers arriving each night to canvass and that the reception at the doors is warm and supportive.

I highlighted that Dublin South West is so very full of potential and that I am working hard on solutions to address the key issues concerning constituents. In doing so I set out my ambitions for the constituency:

• Fairness in austerity and the fear of vulnerable people about water charges;
• Mental Health;
• Employment;
• Housing

Sound of sirens as children go wild
With local man Tony Gillespie at the Open Day at Tallaght Garda Station. I had my first experience inside the 14-cell paddywagon amid the sound of sirens outside as children took full advantage of the Garda gear on show.

Development Plan Process Begins
"In collaboration with the community, South Dublin County Council is starting a review of the South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2010-2016 and will create a new Plan. The new Plan will shape the future growth of the County over the six year period from 2016 to 2022 and beyond.
