Spawell Roundabout - Statement from the Council's Traffic Department
"Following recent review and further discussions with the NTA (National Transport Authority) regarding options for improvements to the traffic flows at Spawell Roundabout it has been decided to prepare a Technical Report on the options to be considered.......

KLIP - Knocklyon Local Initiative Programme - Deputation Meeting 
I was pleased to Chair the first deputation meeting for KLIP recently in the chamber at South Dublin County Council, at which they raised a number of issues on behalf of the community of Knocklyon, ranging from Economic and Employment to Environmental and Transport concerns.  I hope that it is the first of many such deputations and wish to thank the delegation from KLIP who were very well briefed and prepared for their attendance.  I think all in present found the meeting very useful, informative and productive.

Gaelcoláiste an Phiarsaigh - Post-Primary Gael Scoil
You may have read that Loreto Abbey has been sold recently.  According to a report in the Irish Independent of early March "A total of €12m is to be invested by the Department of Education to transform the 250-year-old complex into a gaelscoil for the south Dublin area.  Loreto Abbey is to be preserved as an educational facility.  Gaelcholáiste an Phiarsaigh has a permanent home.

As you know, following a detailed public consultation phase in 2013, the Council has been approved funding by the National Transport Authority (NTA) to construct a high quality pedestrian and cycleway connecting Grange Road to Barton Road extension.Work began on the project prior to Christmas.  The project includes the construction of a cycle and walkway link through an area which is used as an existing pedestrian shortcut.  It will greatly reduce the walking and cycling distance to Nutgrove Shopping Centre, to bus stops and amenities.
