Arising from all the scandals involving women’s health in recent times, a new Women’s Health Taskforce has been established by the Department of Health to improve women’s health outcomes and experiences of healthcare.
The Task- force will tackle a wide range of issues impacting women’s health outcomes in Ireland which could include:
- disadvantage and its impact on health outcomes
- women’s cardiac health
- women’s physical activity and wellbeing
- women’s neurological health, particularly in later life
- women’s mental health
- maternal health
The Taskforce has been established for a two year period and will meet every 4-6 weeks. The first action will be to lead a ‘radical listening’ exercise that will invite women in Ireland to share their experiences of and solutions for the health system, data from which will form the basis for future policy and action to improve women’s health in Ireland.
