Fianna Fáil Finance spokesperson Michael McGrath has said that the Central Bank rules on mortgage lending, in place since February of last year, need to be reviewed to examine the impact they are having on the ability of young couples and individuals to purchase their first home. In particular, he is calling for the rules to be modified in order that an established track record of paying rent is taken as evidence of ability to service a mortgage.
How SDCC is Supporting Business in the County in 2016
I am Chairperson of the County’s Economic, Enterprise and Tourism Strategy Committee. We produced the first Tourism Strategy for the County earlier this year and I chaired the Tourism Working Group which brought it into being.
Tourism development and promotion is identified as a new opportunity for jobs and economic growth.
The following initiatives and funding are being provided for in 2016:

Proposed Link Road to Bohernabreena Road and across the Dodder at Bohernabreena from Oldcourt
I want to bring your attention to a proposal in the Draft County Development Plan which has just finished its public consultation phase and will be considered by your councillors in the months ahead.
There is a proposal (medium to long term) for the construction of a road connecting those lands remaining to be developed in the Ballycullen Oldcourt area with the Bohernabreena Road and the Kiltipper Road. It is the most important measure proposed in the Draft Plan affecting the Ballycullen area. The map on the left is for your information and assistance. If you click on the map it will enlarge. Please click 'read more' below for further details.
The full link to an enlarged detailed map is available at this link - you will need to zoom to see the detail.
The following is the text of a letter I sent to the CEO of South Dublin County Council earlier this week. I'm really disappointed, despite repeated requests from me, that the Council has not made an effort to support the County team in the All-Ireland Final through flags and bunting along major routes into and out of the county - and this is not about the GAA exclusively - I would want to see the Council put out some colour for all our sporting heroes who work so hard to achieve so much and bring honour to their county.
One entrance removed and no traffic management plan for 600 cars on adjoining roads

The following is the text of a press Release I circulated today regarding my two recent public meetings on the Council's proposal to include a new road link across the River Dodder in the Draft County Development Plan:
Cllr John Lahart, Fianna Fáil’s General Election candidate, held two public meetings in Tallaght and Firhouse in the last week concerning the proposal in the South Dublin County Draft Development Plan to include an objective to allow another road link across the Dodder River, connecting the Firhouse Road with the N81 at Glenview Roundabout.
